EXECUTIVE DEFIED. (.BY TELEGRAPH PH ESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, Dec. 30. There have been no further developments in regard to the meat loading of the steamer Cumberland. The watersiders hold that the abolition of the contract system of loading meat in accordance with the hew. award has been forced upon them by the Dominion, Executive, and stated that those who voted in favour of wages as against contract should come and load the vessel. - It is understood that the Watersiders’ Federation Executive instructed the men to resume, but, so far, none are offering. Under the new hourly system the men get 2s 4£d an hour, whereas previously under the contract sysetem they earned as much as £2 a day.
