The Daily Express’ Geneva correspondent describes an 'amazing vendetta begun 238 year* ago between the families of Aschwanden and Jauch in the alpine village Of Burgeden. , On Christmas Day Jauch shot Aschiwanden in the forest, and then gave himself up to the police. He declared he had shot an enemy in order to protect his own life. Aschwanden’s 16-year-old son swore an oath to avenge his father. There had already been a long list of deaths due- to the feud. The male children of both families had been taught from infancy to shoot straight, and were never allowed to leave the village unarmed.
