BOWLING.
TOURNAMENT AT OPUNAKE. CHRISTfi~SHIELD. The annual rinks tournament, open to Western Division and Manaia Clubs, for the Christie was . this year held on the Opunake green on Boxing Day and the 27th. Ten rinks entered, and-the tournament was played in one section of eix games of 21 heads each. Owing to the inclement weather conditions on the: 27th inet. it was decided to delete round 4. Following are the details of the play: ■ Round I—Clough, Baeyertz, Edwards, Hinch 9; Glengarry, Cowan, Lambie, Mason 25. Payne, Innes. H. Christie, . Andrews 14; Schneller, Callaghan, Sinclair, Hammond 22. L: Harrop, D. Harrop, Neilson, Julian 29; Brown, Jndson, Elvines, Walker 22. Kirkwood, Feaver, Gunson, Smith 19; Dunn, Ross, Puff, McCarty 18. Lowry, Clarke, Chapman, Cameron 21; Toroa, Ward, Smith, Hotter 23. Round 2—Cameron 15; Hammond 20. Smith 14; Mason 23. Hotter 16; Julian 19. Andrews 23; McCarty 20. Hinch 11; Walker 28. Round 3 —Hinch 11; Hammond 29. Julian 18 ; Mason 15. ' Andrews 12 ; Hotter )3. Walker 21; McCarty 18. Smith 23; Cameron 25. ; Round s—Hotter’s and Andrews’ rinks did not attend on the second day. Julian 22; McCarty 18. Hinch 12; Smith 15. Mason 22; Walker 17. Round, 6—. Julian 24; Hammond 19. Mason 14; McCarty 21. Cameron 22; Hinch 14. . At the last found Julian and Hammond were the onlv teams who had not been defeated, and a hard contest resulted in Julian’s rink winning by five points. Mr G. Feaver, in a happy speech, congratulated, the winners, and presented the skip with the coveted shield. Mr Julian suitably responded.
