OHAWE BEACH.

(To the Editor). Sir,—My com'mittee would be glad if you will assist them in making an appeal to. the public, for funds for improvements at the above popular seaside resort by publishing this .letter. During fhe recent gales the- windmill in the Domain was broken beyond repair, and as the Domain Board have no funds to replace same, and the committee have handed over practically all their cash to the Hawera County Council for road improvements, unless funds are immediately forthcoming the present season will soon be over before it will be possible to have the ; water supply again turned on to the beach tap and showers. • The board have very little annual revenue, while’ the committee are entirely dependent on public donations. It is intended to take a collection on New Year’s Day, when we trust that the public will respond generously, so .that the water supply may be again available for viistors to the beach at an early date. Water will be turned on to the tap for the' day on New Year’s Day only until further notice. Thanking you in anticipation, 1 am, etc., N. H. C. CAPLEN, Chairman Gha we Seaside Committee.

(To the Editor.) !Sir,—No doubu the many visitors to Waingongoro beach appreciate the improvements that have been carried out during the past few years by the Ohawe Domain Board and the Seaside Improvement Committee. The Domain Board, who have a very limited income, chiefly from grazing on the reserve, erected a windmill at a. considerable cost. The last year has been the most' costly the board has yet experienced, as a. result of the heavy winds causing damage to the windmill on three or four occasions; also replacing and repairing the fence around the domain. At present the windmill is out of action. The board have no funds to put into repair. Until money is found to repair or erect a new windmill the water will he cut off at the beach and bathing sheds. Trusting the public will contribute nuickly by sending donations to the chairman, Mr. Dixon, or secretary. Mr. R. Bullock. Thanking you, Mr. Editor. —T am, etc.. E. DIXON, Chairman Ohawe Domain Board.
