i —— ♦ : BIS H OPS COURT DESTROYED. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 24. Bishopscourt was practically destroyed by fire early this morning. Bishop Julius had not been residing there for some years, and until recentlv it had been utilised as a hostel. With His Grace’s coming retirement, a new hostel was secured, and Bishopscourt was occupied by the Rev. Herbert Jones, pending the appointment and', arrival of the new bishop. PRISONER ESCAPES. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec, 26. Thomas Henry Moody, who was serving a sentence of three years for housebreaking, escaped from the Paparua prison this morning and is ' still at large.
