CRISIS IN ITALY
EARLY GENERAL ELECTION
ON ENGLISH SYSTEM
WILL FASCISM FAIL?
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Dec. 24, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 23. Ihe Times Rome correspondent says that Mussolini’s new Electoral Bill, under .which Italy ■ will return toi the one member constituency, is generally taken as foreshadowing an , early.- general ■■ election; The consequences of Mussolini’s step will be 7 very great. The Times’ correspondent- points out that in an election under the; new conditions the Fascists would certainly lose many seats. would probably no longer be the strangest party, and their leaders, would not hav© the first claim to office. It is'too early yet to say what, if any, is'the hidden motive behind Mussolini’s action, but it seems clear he has acted without any special regard to purely Fascist interests.
