R. Pearless, aged 70, is announced in a Nelson telegram Deceased served throughout the South African war and the Great ar .with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel. He did fine work on Gallipoli in caring for the wounded, and will be remembered hv many. General R.ichardson, during his visit to Nelson some time ago, referred to Dr. Pearless as “that grand eld veteran.” Deceased in the early days took a keen interest in the volunteer movement, and was also a prominent figure in sporting circles.
