♦ POLICE BELIEVE SUICIDE. BY CABLE —PRESS. ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. SYDNEY, Dec. 20. Concerning the death of James Dwyer at Lithgow, the police now believe that Dwyer. took. his own life while in a state of delirium tremens. The theory is that Dwyer pushed a penknife into his’ own. body seventeen times. On each occasion ,it did not penetrate further than the rib. Later he plunged it into his throat, but this was not a sufficient cause of immediate death. He commenced ’ walking round and came across a large stone with a sharp point. With this he caused injuries to his head. His staggering movements then became more pronounced. The fact that there was only one set of footprints is considered strong evidence of suicide. ,
