INGLEWOOD COUNTY.

NEW OFFICES OFFICIALLY OPENED. I During the last few years considerable progress in building has been made in the town of , Inglewood, says, the Herald. The recently erected buildings have been constructed not, only as being places of business, hut also with the idea, of improving. the' appearance of the town. A body which has helped to set the high standard of building is the Inglewood County Council, whose new offices were officially opened on Friday afternoon. The ceremony wa s held in the council room, where a dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdames R. Stuart, 13. Larson, D J. O’Sullivaii, J. F. Young. J. Harding, D. A. Brown, and Misses Young and Frewin , Amongst those present were: The Mayor of Inglewood (Mr J. Sutherland, Messrs H. R. Billing, H. Trimble. H. Peters, J. Brown, C. S. List, A. T. Komi rick, W. C Weston, V. Griffiths. F. G. Cooper, W H. Armstrong, and councillors.

A long toast list was honoured, bhich comprised “Tli e King,” “Parliament ol New Zealand,” • Ex-Council-iors and Moa Road Board,” “ingle wool I Borough 1 Con nci 1, ” “(iommerci a) interests,” “Architects and Contractors.” “County Staff.” “The Ladies,’’ and “Tlie Press.” THE NEW OFFICES.

llic building, which occupies a prominent position in the town, has very attractive lines, being built on the plain Grecian style, and finished with white Atlas cement and silver sand. It presents a. solid appearance, being, constructed of lerro-conerete throughout, and should long ‘Tie an asset to the town.

If the exterior is attractive, the interior is even more pleasing. At tlie main entrance is a roomy porch, and after passing through swing doors one finds oneself in a wide passage which leads into the eo.untv clerk’s cilice and public business department with counter on the left, and tlie engineer’s office and conveniences and cloak rooms on the light. At .the end of. the passage is another swing doothrough which entrance to the counci room is effected. This room, measur ing 2oft. by 18ft.. is. ventilated am’ lighted on three, sides, and -is fur nishod with a, handsome polished tab 1 / and chairs Tlie entire building is fitted with electric lights and heaters, and the walls are finished in oemonl plaster, whilst the county room is P have a dressing of calcimine. The floor of the county, room is covered with inlaid linoleum, and the other rooms have a covering of corllinoleum. The furniture and the fillings are ..made of picked heart of rimu. and the general appearance of the bujJding does credit to architect and builder
