HEATING PIG'S FOOD

Here is an equipment very useful for heating up the pig's food. Procure a large oil drum (say 60 gallons)/h,nd cut it in halves. Also obtain another oil drum or cask, small enough to go into one half of the bigger drum. Mount the latter on a few bricks, arranged so. as to form a lire box underneath. Pour* a couple of buckets of water in and then put the smaller oil drum or cask into the larger sized vessel. Milk, pollard, etc., can be heated up without any danger of burning and so spoiling the food, because of the water jacket between the two receptabies. if a small slow fire is made up last thing at night, the food in the inner drum will be quite warm in the morning. The whole outfit is cheap, simple and entirely satisfactory. In the diagram A is tin; half sized drum; B the smaller vessel placed inside of it; F and B the fire box underneath. Where the heating of food for pigs is practised it is inadvisable merely to warm the materials The’" should always be brought to the boil, otherwise there is a dist nei 'probability of undesirable fermentation being set up.
