CAPETOWN, Dec. 18. , A terrible mine disaster occurred at the Randfontein Estates. A'* cage containing a white man and 30'natives was descending the south vertical shaft, 4750 feet deep. The driver wae horrified to find the strain suddenly cease, the cage having dropped 1000 feet. It was crumped into a mass of twisted wreckage. Rescuers immediately, descended, and discovered human remains wedged in the timbers, while at the bottom of the shaft only the top of the battered cage could be seen emerging from the water. Baling had to be assorted .to, but so far no bodies have been recovered.—Reuter.
