In the House of Commons Sir Cunliffe Lister (President of the Board of Trade) stated that licenses were issued last year for the export of war material to tlie Soviet, including six hundred Vickers machine guns. The bulk of the material was shipped late in the spring and summer. The present Government does not intend to issue licenses for the export of war material to this destination.

The lobby correspondent of the Daily Express reports that Labour ex-Minis-ters state that only limited authority was given for export to Russia from private sources. No surplus war stocks were sent by the Labour Government to Russia. On the contrary, it had made a decision against sending such surplus abroad.
