SUCCESSFUL TRIALS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Dee. 16. Three hundred prominent people, including the engineering superintendents of all the leading shipping companies, cruised on board the Aorangi to-day. Speaking at a luncheon, Sir Alexander Fairfield said the most exhaustive trials had proved thoroughly successful. The ship, had. maintained eighteen knots for sixty hours. The Aorangi’s arrival in Australasia would mark the jubilee 'of the Union Company, which was in competition with the Australian and Canadian Governments, who admitted that their ships did not pay and admitted that they taxed the public in order to compensate for the losses. “We find the only way is to give the best service,” he added. Other speakers declared that the Aorangi was far ahead of other ships in the Australian trade for steadiness..
