Advice has been received by the police that George Talcott A'hier, an inmate of the Roto Roa inebriates’ home, has been found hanged. CRUSHED BY LIFT. AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. A fatal lift accident occurred'in the Ferry Buildings to-day. George Frederick Cox was taking a case of goods up in the lift, when a case overbalanced knocking him against the side of the lift. Cox received injuries to his head and thigh, and died several hours later. Deceased was a married man and lived in the city. THE CROSSING MENACE. YOUTH KILLED. WHANGAREI, Dee. 16. .This afternoon a special train conveying St. Leon’s circus northwards’ crashed into a. dray in charge of Jack Broomfield, aged nineteen, at a leVel crossing near Kukerenui. Broomfield was killed instantly, the body being fearfully mutilated.
