AMERICAN SPRINTER.
TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Dec. 13. The Amateur Athletic Union has announced that Charles Paddock and Lorei Murchison, America’s two fastest sprinters, have accepted invitations to compete in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Germany, Sweden and Finland. The sprinters embark early in January for Honolulu, proceeding then to New Zealand. It is estimated the tour will consume seven months.
Mr. Mourray Hulbert, president of the union commanding the tour, said: ‘ ‘We hope it will stimulate the development of material everywhere for the 1928 Olympic Games. I believe such athletic visits not only promote international sport, but also establish a better international feeling.”
