CONSTABLE ASSAULTED
PRISONER REFUSED BAIL. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 13. Bail was refused by the Magistrate when Edmund Barney .was charged this morning with burglary at New Brighton and with assaulting a constable. The police said that Darney had threatened to kill all in the house lie entered, and they were afraid lie might return. A remand was granted.'
