AUCKLAND BOARDING-HOUSE
LOW WATER PRESSURE
LBY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Dec. 10. A fire in Waitemata 'street, Fonsonby, at 1.15 o’clock this morning 4 in a three-storey apartment house conducted by Mrs Peddy developed into a conflagration which, owing to*low water pressure, endangered a large residential area. The boarding-house was destroyed, four men and three women leaving by the fire escape. One man carried a lady boarder who fainted. Twenty boarders lost everything. The. fire also gutted the residence of Albert Crowe on one side, and practically destroyed a new house recently completed on the other side of the boarding-house. Crowe was insured—house for £B3O and furniture for £230 in the Sun Office.
