A+ „ WELLINGTON, Dec. 10. -At the Edueatlo » Board meeting Mr White moved that the granting of special favours (hcfiidays)' tp city children is unfair and opposed to the best interests of the whole of the children, and that the action of the chairman and\secretary in conniving at the breaking of the board’s by-laws is deserving of censure, the mover pointed out the discrepancy between the holiciays granted to country and city school emkueri Country children wore given one holiday for a local show, hut not more, but in the city a special holiday was granted during the month of November, when conditions were unsuitable for holidays. ' In seconding the first part of the motion, Mr Louclon regretted any deprecation that might be i n . ferred from Mr White's allusion to the holiday granted to the city schools on the departure of 'Lord Jellieoe. fright strongly deprecated the motion as a reflection on liord Jellieoe, who has a great affection ior children and among whom he was extremely popular. Other memoers spoke in similar E a ' n ’ a l ld the motion was lost, Mr W hite only voting for it.
