SUPREME COURT.

NEW PLYMOUTH SITTINGS

The sittings of the Supreme Court were continued at New Plymouth yesterday, before his Honor Mr. Justice MacGregor.

Thomas Marsh, of Urenui, was acquitted on charges alleging that he had been unlawfully by night in the dwell-ing-house of his father-in-law, Charles Handley, of Urenui, on July* 1, 1924, with intent to commit a crime. The indictment contained three counts, which were of an alternative character The first charged him with having broken out of the dwelling-house of Charles Handley, at Urenui, by night, after having unlawfully entered it with intent to commit a crime therein; on the second count he was charged with entering the dwelling of Charles Handley by night with intent to commit a crime therein; and finally with being found by night without lawful excuse m the dwelling of the said Charles Handley.

The trial was commenced in the afternoon of Herman Arthur Lewis Hahn, alias Arthur Rowland Taylor, on a charge of having had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under 10 vears, and an alternative charge of having indecently assaulted the girl, the offence, it was alleged, having been committed at Motiiroa on October 20. Accused pleaded not guilty, and the '■o’u-t was cleared. The case for the Grown was still being heard when the Court rose.
