PREPARING FOR HOLIDAY'S. HAWERA RETAILERS’ PLANS. Han era shopkeepers are considering ways and means of providing attractioris -for the Christinas holiday season and the retailers’ canvassing committee is at present seeking financial supPP r G The idea is to decorate the streets, provide musical programmes for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and provide other attractions as j? decided upon. In connection with the greenery decorations it is hoped to form a ladies’ committee to make artificial flowers to be ' set in and brighten ivj the general decorations. Difficulty is being experienced in securing suitable greenery, but the promoters hope to overcome it. Attractions for children are also being arranged, and the town should wear a bright and attractive appearance durmg the festive season. The late nights will he on the Wednesdays before Christmas and New Year, and the shops will close at 6 p.m. on the SaturChristmas Day and the batuiday following New Year’s Dav. Altogether the scheme promises to be very successful, and it ' is hoped that there will be a ready response to the canvass for funds.
