BANKRUPT CATTLE DEALER.
IN DEBT TO HIS WIFE. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. A meeting of the creditors of Jesse James Hills, a land dealer, was held today. Hill’s statement showed book debts of over £20,000, which were estimated to produce £2OO. The debtor produced a schedule covering the past three years, in which he showed receipts amounting to £10,500, and an expenditure of £9 less. His business and liis wife’s wer© mixed until June, 1923. Then she started a separate banking account. Prior to 1923 he owed his wife a considerable sum of money. Three and a half years ago lie owed her £IO,OOO. which increased since then to £11,500. Debtor admitted that he had been dealing on his wife’s behalf on many occasions without consulting her, and on many occasions received money from her for the purpose of paying his debts. The meeting appointed a committee of three to go into the affairs with the assignee.
