MONTHLY MEETING. ( The regular mofithiy. Meeting of the General Committee of the otratforci Racing Club was lieid.Gii Tuesday, jnovember 25,. at b p.m., there being'present: Messrs fcj. Tire chairman reported re attendance at recent meeting of the Dates Committee, held at C/hristchurch. Mr Kirkwood reported on "Deliaif of the Vigilance Committee, and correspondence in connection with the committee’s activities was read and received. In connection with the painting of buildings, Mr -tiealy reported that tenders had been accepted for the painting of the. grandstand (.No. 1 contract) and totalisator and other buildings (No. 2 contract).—The chairman reported that the su b-eomihittee is not in agreement r.e painting of stewards’ stand, and it was resolved that the sub-committee be instructed to receive prices and make arrangements for the painting of the stewards’ stand. ■ Mr Malone, assured t-lie committee that final and satisfactory arrangements would be made concerning seating accommodation for outside public.— It- was resolved that this matter be finalised without further report. The chairman reported that work in connection with metalling of Tybalt Street- and taxi track was proceeding satisfactorily. The contractor has mane good progress, and completion by contract date was practically assured. A sub-committee, consisting of the chairman and Mr Stewart, was appointed to attend to the matter of immediate fencing of fillings on Tybalt Street. _ Arrangements for the saie and collection of motor-car tickets was deferred pending visit Of Mr ft. Bay early in December. Correspondence in connection with this matter was read and received. The chairman reported that ticket boxes had been removed from the Pembroke Hoad entrance, and in future one will be utilised as a. change window near tui'iistiies and the other as a ticket box in the hiotor enclosure.— Air Kirkwocd suggested alteration to the boxes, with a view to. improving general appearance of same. —It .was resolv'ed that this matter be deferred until after the race Meeting. The chairaian and Messrs'Eredric and Stewart were appointed as a sub-com-mittee for the purpos© of deciding upon the location or the turnstiles, and to adequately test same on erection. The chairman reported that the Advertising Cominittee had matters well in hand. The Catering Committee reported that they had accepted the otter of Messrs Dustins’, Led. The club has arranged for more convenience foi patrons in respect of morning and afternoon tea. The committee is also making arrangements for a special members’ luncheon room. Air Malone reported that satisfactory arrangements had been, made in connection with printing and disposal of correct cards. The committee expressed satisfaction with the Railway Department's proposals as a result of application for special trains on race days., The Department has decided to run a special train on both days from Waverfey, and on January 1 an extra special train from New Plymouth has beeai provided. A special train both days from Tahora is also applied for, the prospects o.f the request being granted being very satisfactory. Startford Band offer their services, and state that .they will probably have 25 players. There is also, a prospect of the band appearing in uniform. —It was resolved that the offer be accepted, and the committee request the appearance of the band in uniform if at ail possible. Air. Fredric reported that the matter of overhauling the number board is proceeding satisfactorily. Air Malone reported that terrace edges have been: protected by providing steps and extra seating accommodation . Air Kirkwood reported that he had approached the Alayor and the chairman of the Works Committee, Stratford Borough Council, . in connection with the • improvements in- ' Ooideiia; Street. ' The ' Council is rot prepared to undertake heavy expenditure in connection with Pembroke Road, but will probably meet tlm club’s requirements in respect of Cordelia Street.It was resolved that the mutter of making further representations .be deferred pending definite advice as; to who is in charge of race-day traffic—police or Borough Council. The tender of Air A. Pearce, Club Hotel,-Stratford, re disposal of booth privileges was accepted. Four tenders were received. Air Alalone reported ire suitable set of scales for jockeys’ rocto. The matter of acquiring motor ambulance was considered in conjunction with correspondence received ii om Alessrs. Newton King, Ltd. In discussing this matter it Ava-s suggested that probably some satisfactory arrangements could be made whereby a motor ambulance could be acquired hy the Hospital Board, Stratford A. and P. Association and the Stratford Racing Club on the basis of joint ownership.— The secretary was instructed io communicate with the Stratford Board and Stratford A. and P. Association in connection with this matter. Tlie matter of casualty ward equipment an'd arrangements for temporary ambulance was l-ert in the hands <.i the chairman and Alessrs Abraham and Kirkwood, with power to act. Stewards and officials for January 1 and 2, 1925, were duly appointed. The matter of overhauling the totalisator machine was left in the. hands of Air Fredric, with power to act. Air Fredric urged that plans and specifications be prepared with a -view to completion of race tracks at.an early date. —It was resolved that a sub-com-mittee, consisting of the chairman, Alessrs Alalone and Fredric, confer with Air Sladden and report at the next meeting. Air W. Kerr was duly elected as an active member. The caretaker was empowered to engage the necessary casual labour for the purpose of getting the course in order for the forthcoming race meeting. The Course Committee reported that they had made an inspection, and tracks, course, etc., were in order. The matter of inspecting fire extinguishers and making adequate arrangements in connection with prevention of fire was left in the hands of Air Fredric. The chairman reported in connection with hank balances, and accounts amounting to £l2O 19s were passed for payment. The meeting then rose.
