A, sensational incident occurred at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee. M. Herriot attended with, the intention of making a statement in connection with the Government’s Policy. He asked all the members to undertake to keep secret anything he might say. M. Doriot, Communist deputy, objected, declaring that he did not consider himself bound to do anything of the kind. M. Herriot thereupon said it was impossible in the national interests to make the slightest statement, and immediately withdrew.
