A girls’ ‘‘learn-to-swim week” is to be held in Auckland, says the New Zealand Herald. This is a genuine effort to concentrate on teaching swimming, with special emphasis on teaching beginners. Last year a very successful “learn to. swim week” was held in Sydney by business girls, and there were 750 enrolments. The Auckland City Council lias shown a ready sympathy with the girls’ effort, and is allowing the city baths to' be reserved for an hour each evening. There will be classes for improvers and for life-saving, as well as for beginners. The Auckland Amateur Swimming Association and the Life-Saving Society are both hiuch interested in the pronect, and are giving -hearty co-operation in the way of finding teachers. This fine effort should form an example for other cities. Barraclougli’s Magic Nervine for that aching tooth; 1/6. —Advt.
