While the object of this splendidly produced and profusely illustrated book is admittedly to show how Stevens’ “Cathedral” Brand Essences may be used to advantage, it is unquestionably a book of great value to she who would impart variety and distinctiveness to her cooking. Miss Trent’s authorship amply guarantees every recipe given. Her many qualifications won overseas, added to her high reputation won in New Zealand. make enlargement upon her culinary prowess unnecessary. Many are the delightful suggestions contained in the book under review for the festivities approaching. Cakes of every conceivable kind, delightful yet inexpensively made confections, ice cream, page after page of puddings (hot and cold). The recipes are all given together with explicit directions in large clear type. The publishers advise that the first 10,000 copies of this “Cathedral” Brand Essences Cookery Book will be supplied free.
