A “DEAF” NAVY.

BRITAIN FAR BEHIND. IN WIRELESS DEVELOPMENT. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Dec. 3, 2.15 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 2. “The British Navy is practically ‘dear,’ owing to Britain’s slow development of wireless. The Admiralty cannot really reach 3000 miles, far less strategic points such as Singapore,” said Sir Robert Donald at the Empire Press Union. ‘‘On the contrary, the French, through their world range of stations and super-stations in Saigon, are able to cimmunicate wit hships at distant seas. America’s world range of stations assure that the Navy is always in touch with Washington. Machinery should be established ready to, meet the situation. It is time an Imperial Communications Board was appointed to advise on the. development of Empire wireless and to consolidate Imperial interests.”
