W.C.T.U.

* A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Hawera branch of the W.C.IYU. was held last week, and the various reports sub-, mitted were regarded as being most satisfactory and as reflecting the greatest credit on all the workers concerned. Congratulatory references were made to the work of the various officers during the year, and mention was made of the earnestness and sincerity which characterised all their efforts. The Methodist Bible Class girls and the many friends who have assisted the movement during the year were cordially thanked for their interest in the work of the organisation, and votes of thanks were accorded to those helpers, as well as to the press. The work of those ladies who had borne the burden of the work during the 12 months was eulogised, and the promise of the retiring officers to still do their utmost to assist in the work was much appreciated. It was decided to allocate a sum of £5 5s to the organising fund. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs Reed; secretary, Mrs Hayward; treasurer, Mrs Burge; assistant secretary. Mrs Ollerenshaw; legal supervisor. Mrs Bone; \v hite Ribbon, Mrs Ilulbert; evangelistic, Mrs Goring; publicitv,' Mrs Parkinson. A very successful meeting closed with mutual congratulations, and the hope was expressed that the work done in the coming vear would exceed the most sanguine hopes.
