A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
GENERAL COMMITTEE. MEETING ON SATURDAY. A meeting of the general committee of the Egmont A. and P. Association was held on. Saturday. There being present: Messrs, E, A. Washer, president ,in the chau:), S. C. Tonks, B. C. Lysaght, J. D. Scott, W. McL’Dowie. ci A. E. Westoii, J. S, 'if. Short, H. Finlay, H. Hunter and A. Hankow. Apologies, were received from Messrs. CL H. Washer, F. Mills, J.. I 1 cubes and H. Johnson. , following new members were elected:— H. Forsyth (Elthani), A. A. verry, R. J. Verry (Waite tara), J. Wallace, J. Bublitz (Hawera), Messrs Robertson and Blackley (New Plymouth, H. J. Webber,' G, W. Ashton, W. Gardiner (Hawera). The following resignations were accepted with regret: —A, M. Jones, and A. I lutts (Inaha), Dr. Simmons (Patea), E. Cleaver (Normanby), W. H. a>ml EL Atkiji . On the motion of Messrs.. Gilianders and A Hunter it was decided that Mr. Atkin s resignation be accepted with i egret and that a letter be sent. to. that gentleman; thanking him for his complimentary references to the Association and for services rendered to : the Association during the term of' fjis meniibensbip. The. usual stewards and exhibitors meeting was fixed for Saturday next, at_ 1.30 p.m., and a meeting of stockdrive committee for the same day at 11 a .m. The question of the rates payable to the Borough Council were discussed, and it was mentioned that other associations had managed to secure relief from such rates, 0;n the motion of Messrs Richardson and Finlay it was decided that <a> deputation consisting of Messrs. E' A Masher, S. C. Tonks, B. CL Lysaght, F. Gilianders and G. Ford be appointed to meet the Borough Council and go into, a reduction. Gn the motion of tiie chairman a hearty- vote of thanks was accorded the stewards at the recent show in particular, and the ladies in charge of the home industries section. The Dixon Banner Committee was granted permission to use the A. and P. grounds for their competitions on December 10. Disappointment was expressed that the Motor Traders’ Association had decided, against holding a motor parade at the show, and it was decided to write the association expressing the hope that a parade would be held next year. It was pointed out that the space arrangements for the side-shows had been attended to in preparation for a parade. Hearty votes of thanks were also accorded the secretary and his assistants (Mr R- McCoy and, Miss Si Ison), and the. caretaker, for their work at the shov*. On, the motion of Mr Tonks, a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the president for the manner in which lie had conducted the show this vear.
