NORMANBY.
(From" Our Own Correspondent.) HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. There was a good attendance at the meeting held on November. 24, and the president (Mi*. B. Gibsom occupied the chair. As it ivas necessary, owing to the financial position of the society, it was resolved to increase the banjc overdraft, and the following gentlemen offered' to act as guarantors: Messrs B. C. Gibson, R. J. Linn, G. Briscoe, R. J. Ballantine, R. H. Clements, and J. Forbes. The clerk was instructed to write to the old guarantors thanking them for their past services to the society. Mr. ,R. J. Linn* was appointed trustee. Mr. Grant proposed, and Mr. Forbes seconded, that a one day show be held instead of two as formerly. An amendment by Mr. J. A. Archbold, seconded by Mr. J. Taylor that a two days show be held, was defeated and the motion was declared carried. It was resolved that a meeting be held on Monday, December 1, to revise the schedule, and all class stewards and others interested are request, ed to attend, as it is the intention of the committee to bring the' schedule thoroughly up to d,ate and suggestions from exhibitors will be given doe consideration.
