FAMOUS MENUS.
An exhibition of industries and handicraft has been held in Serajevo, one of the most interesting exhiffits (which it is not easy to squeeze into the usual conception of either industry or handicraft) is a collection of famous menu cards, made by M. Meizet, the secretary of’one of the larger hotels of Serajevo. The collection takes up two bookcases, and includes menus from all parts of the world and mainly of great personages, of the Emperor of China and the Sultan, of the late Obrenovitch King, Alexander I. of Serbia, and of Alexander 111. of Russia on the occasion of his coronation. It is said that the making of the cards for this banquet cost altogether 1200 roubles, or £l2O, on account of the amount of gold involved. The menu card of the last luncheon of the Australian heir-apparent, Frances Ferdinand, is there too, and a small, verv elegant card of Napoleon 111. The total number of menus is stated to he 4000, and, before the war M. Meizet was offered as much as 200.000 marks for the collection.
