OPUNAKE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) VALEDICTORY. Mrs. T. S. Hickey returned on a brief business visit prior to settling in the North, where Mr. Hickey has accepted the management of a newspaper business. Advantage of the occasion was taken by the -members of the Plunket Society and the Croquet club to place on record their appreciation of the good work done by Mrs. Hickey in both associations. As secretary of the Plunket Society she infused great interest in the work of the society, and the position will be hard to fill. Airs. Hickey was the guest of the members at an afternoon at the beach pavilion and was the recipient of a valuable piece of cliina as a token of the esteem iu which she was held. The members of the croquet club took advantage of the evening given by Airs. Watt to place on record their regrets at the departure of Airs. Hickey. Mrs. Edmonds in an appropriate speech voiced the appreciation in which Mrs. Hiokev was held by the members of the olnb and tlieir regret at her departure. She then presented the guest with a neat afternoon tea service. Airs. Hickey suitably responded.
