ABRAM’S “CURE” WORTHLESS
SCATHING REPORT BY AMERICAN SCiEaTToTS.
LONDON, Sept. 24. “A colossal illusion.” This is the verdict' passed on the Abrams “magic box” electronic treatment for cancer by a medical and scientific committee which has investigated the “magic box” in America.
The Daily Express in March last printed some astonishing revelations by Sir Thomas Horder, the famous pnysician, with regard to grave errors in diagnosis committed under the “magic box” system.
A .stringent inquiry into the claims made lor the Abrams electronic-treat-ment is now being held in. London by a number of scientific men.
Meanwhile, the American committee has presented its own. report, in which it states: —
“This committee finds that the claims advanced on behalf of the electronic actions of Abrams, and of electronic practice in general, are not substantiated; and it is our belief that they have no basis in fact. “In our opinion the so-called electronic reactions do hot occur, and the so-called electronic treatments are without value.”
The report is signed by Dr. W. H. Park, Director of the Bureau of Laboratories. New York Health Department, Dr. W. C. Alvarez, Associate Professor of Research Me'dicine in the George William Hooper’s Foundation, Mr. R. C-. Post, a leading and civil engineer, Mr. J. Malcolm Bird, 'Associate Editor pf the Scientific American, and Mr. Austin C. Leschrboura/ ' “Despite the. fact that Dr. Abrams had already brought out nemerous medical stunts of more or less doubtful. value, most of which had already found their way to, the medical trashbasket, his .latest electronic technique! made a universal appeal. It had a touch of romance.
“The romance came in his claim to deduce from a drop of your blood your life history, how old the donor, was, his color, what diseases he was suffering fronj now, and what diseases could be expected in the future. The thing was uncanny: “The Abrams’ treatment thus got under way. Doctors found the method a gold mine.”
The ‘-‘magic box” was byDr. Adams, a physician in. San Fran-, cisco, who died in January last,; and it was introduced into England at'the beginning of this year. Between twenty and thirty doctors adopted the treatment, and formed a society of electronic medicine. - G-G G-
