GOVERNOR FAREWELLED.
TRAVELLERS’ TRIBUTE. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Nov. 21. There was a. large and enthusiastic gathering this evening at the Wellington Commercial Tarvellers’ Club to farewell the Governor-General, patron of the United Association of New Zealand. Mr. Hugh Wright, acting-president, in a eulogistic speech, described his Excellency as “the best representative of the biggest firm in the world—Great Britain.” His Excellency’s health was drunk, amid great enthusiasm ' Lord Jellicoe briefly, suitably, and humourously responded. He was, he said, - exceedingly sorry to leave New Zealand, and he would be very proud to act as a commercial traveller for Dominion advertising, though New Zealand needed no advertisement for the country, its people, and its children. Great and good work had been done by its commercial travellers for all patriotic and charitable causes.
His Excellency was presented with a gold badge of the association, surmounted by a scroll bearing the. word “Patron.”. The National Anthem, an enthusiastic resinging of “For he’s a jolly good fellow,” • and heartv cheers for their Excellencies and family closed the proceedings.
