SIRDAR ATTACKED.
SEVERAL PEOPLE WOUNDED. SCHOOTING DESCRIBED. ZAGHLUL EXPRESSES SORROW. BY GABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—GOPYRIGHT Received Nov. 20, 10.35 a.m. .. CAIRO, Nov. 19. The Sirdar, Sir Lee Slack, accompanied by an aide-de-camp, was returning from the War Office. His assailants secreted themselves in a door around a corner, and as the party debouched into tfie main street the attack was launched. A bomb was first thrown, but it did not explode. Then the assailants repeatedly fired automatics, hitting Sir Leo Slack in the stomach, hand and foot, the aide-de-camp in the chest, and the chauffeur in an arm and leg. A policeman rushed and brought down three with sh.ots. Two Englishmen on a motor-cycle and in a sidechair were also fired on, hut escaped, after , noting the number of a taxi waiting in a side street wherein the aggressors escaped. Zaghlul and Ministers heading a deputation from the Chamber immediately called at the residency to express their profound sorrow and sympathy..—Reuter
