ENEMIES OF FRANCE.

EXTRA EDITION.

TRAiTGRS PARDONED. • iY CABLE—PRESS, ASSOCIATidN—COPYRIGHT . lleceived Nov. 19, 1.50 p.m. PARIS, Nov. 18. The Senate passed a resolution granting an amnesty to. the ex-Premier Caillaux and an ex-Minister, Malvy, whom the Higli Court banished for alleged defeatist activities in war-time. Several .Senators opposed the amnesty for Caillaux on the ground that liis oifence was, too grave to pardon. General Stuhl, on behalf o.f ex-service men, declared that Caillaux was not repentant and would commit the same offence again if the occasion offered. Hervey said that Caillaux would reappear on the scene more ambitions than ever. His one desire was to resume the control of France. M.. Harriot (Premier) in reply, pointed out, that Caillaux was condemned, not for conveying intelligence to the enemy, but for correspondence with enemy subjects. He urged Senators, to » consign to oblivion political quarrels, which were dangerous iii war time. Replying to a question by a Senator as to whether he thought Malvy guilty, M. Poincare recalled that Malvy was 1 tried at his own request. No act by Malvy denoting lack of patriotism had ever come to Poincare’s knowledge. The motion for the amnesty of Malvy was opposed only by the Royalist De La Hay, and a resolution granting an amnesty to, Caillaux was carried by 176 votes to 104. A resolution granting ah amnesty to Malvy was carried by 195 to 62.
