- r-9-DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of the 13th instant: Butter —Market dull. We quote: New Zealand, finest salted 206 s (2205), exceptional brands 208 s (2205); Danish, 220 s (2225); finest Australian, salted 188 s (198 s), unsalted' 198 s (208 s). Cheese — There is a fair enquiry at the reduced price. New Zealand, white (06s) and coloured (955), 925; Canadian,' 90s to 92s e.i.f. Last week’s quotations shown in parentheses. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for October amounted to 416,000 cwt, as compared with 358,000 cwt for the corresponding month of last year. NEW ZEALAND MEAT. I The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office dated November 14, 1924, advising Smitlifield delivered prices at that date as follows (prices for the previous week being in parentheses): New Zealand wethers and maidens: Canterbury quality, selected brands, 56/under, Sfd (8|); 57/64 1 ,84 d (8*d); 65/72, 8d (8d). Australian frozen meat: Good average quality crossbred lamb, Australian heavy not quoted, light 12 ; |d. Demand for Australian lamb is good. Good average quality crossbred mutton heavy and light not quoted. A. H. Turnbull and Go. report: We aro in receipt of a cable from our principals, Messrs. W- Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, 14th inst., as follows (last week’s in parentheses): Danish butter, 21Gs to 220 s (220 s io 2245); N.Z. salted 200 sto 204 s (2463 to 218 s). Market slow. SHEEPSKINS. HIDES AND TALLOW SALE.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows: The fortnightly sales of hides, sheepskins and tallow were held to-day by the various brpkers. An average catalogue was submitted to a full attendance of fellmongers, exporters, tanners, and the local trade. Prices for dry skins were about- < n a par with late rates. Half-breds and fine crossbreds sold about Id per lb better than previous quotations. Salties were firm at late fates. A firm market ruled all through for hides, competition being good on all weights. Heavies and lights were on a par to Id per lb higher. Medium, par to §d higher. Kip and yearlings were in request and sold well up to late petition, and showed a slight iniprovement. Bidding for tallow was keen, and prices were about 10s to £1 better than previous rates recorded. The following is the range of prices:— Sheepskins.—Half bred, 18d to 22-id; fine, crossbred, 18Id to 21d; medium to coarse crossvredgl6d to 18id; short to half wools, 13r to 1714; lambs, 13)d to 20)-d; dead and damaged crossbred, 91 d to 16) d ; inferior and badly damaged 8d to 14d; pelts, ll2cl to 12|d ; damp, salted and green, os 6d to 225; pelts, salted, 2s 6cl to 4s lid; lambs’, salted, 2s 7d to 13s 9d. Present quotations are: Mutton, fine 52 s 6d to 52s 9d per cwt.; fair to good, 50s to 52 s per cwt.; dark to dqll, 46s to 48s per cwL Beef: Sweet anchor mixed, 52s to 53s 6d per cwt.; fair to good, 49s to 51s per cwt.; dark to dull', 45s to 47s 6d per cwt.
