Sister Muir, sub-matron of the New Plymouth hospital, has severed her connection with the hospital. Nurses •Cockerton and Little have also resigned. Mr Justice MacGregor will preside at the sessions of the Supreme Court for Taranaki, which open at New Plymouth on Tuesday next. Dr. E. Gordon Anderson and Mrs. Anderson, of Wellington, who have been spending a few days at New Plymouth, came to Hawera yesterday and left again this morning" by the mail train for Palmerston North. Sir Ernest Rutherford, the worldfamous scientist, wilL be invited by the Sydney University Extension Board to deliver a course of lectures in Australia next year. It has been suggested that the tour should also include a visit to New Zealand.
