FRENCH ECONOMICS.

REPARATION DELEGATES,

NOT TO RECEIVE SALARIES.

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT PARIS, Nov. 12. The waning importance of the Reparations Commission since the adoption of the Dawes scheme is emphasised by- the publication of a drastic scheme for retrenchments, which are to be put into effect within the next two months, reducing expenditure by 50 per cent. The plans involve the evacuation of the palatial Hotel As r toria for comparative modest offices, the wholesale reduction of the staff, and the abolition of salaries for the principal delegates, who henceforth' will receive retaining fees for attendance and travelling expenses. Nevertheless, • the total economies thus effected are expected to be coun-ter-balanced by expenditure on the multifarious new posts created under the Dawes plan.
