DEMANDS ON DRAPERS.
\ FOR SALES OF WtiRK. ®
Demands on drapers for gifts to bazaars and sales of, work aye dealt with by the “New Zealand Draper,’’ in commenting on a resolution of the New South Wales Association, that .no firm, nor any member of any firm, nor any company, nor any officer in any ‘company, in guch capacity, shall give donations in cash or kind to any sales bf work or. bazaars.” The Draper remarks: '“We have found in practice that where the rule has been broken it has been through some of the firm giving personally what the said firm, is obliged to refuse. The customer or applicant who, on visiting such a firm,.-receives an attention frOnj one of its officers would naturally, and we think justifiably, quote the firm and not the individual as subscribing. . The evil of undue requests for donations has been so- long recognised and so emphantically pointed put, that practically throughout New Zealand there is a resolution against anything being-done save by the association officially-; This is well known to members who pissed the resolutions, and they should keep it in spirit a s well as in letter.”
