JOY RIDERS ARRESTED.

TE AWAMUTU, Nov. 11. • Af ter spending a night\m the. lock-up a party of five joy-riders,- who had * jollifications abruptly -terminated while motoring through Te Awamutu by Constables Doyle and Hooker, presented a. very forlorn appearance when they appeared before Messrs S II Dunkley and S. Clark, J.P.’s, at the local Court.
John McCarthy and John Gale were fined £3 each, in default fourteen days’: imprisonment, for using disgusting language in Alexandra street.
John Fitzgerald and Philip Farrelly, who were found drunk, were given the credit of being first offenders, and were convicted and discharged. The fifth member of the party, James McLean, had to answer the more serious charge "of the theft of two rings, valued at £ll, eand he; was remanded to appear at Hamilton. In this ease a warrant had been issued from Hamilton, and McLean was arrested, as he answered the description given by the Hamilton police. The police stated that the party was travelling along the main street in a carefree manner and using objection-: able language, and when spoken to used the language with which they & were charged. The two charged with drunkenness were arrested later.
