ROMAN CAMP AT RUNTON.
35 ACRES FOR PUBLIC USE
Situated in the .coastal parish of Runton, midway between Cromer and Sheringhani, the picturesque crowned ridge of heath and woodland two miles from the cliffs .and known as Roman Oa.mp, was recently handed over to the National Trust for Places of Historical Interest or Natural Beauty (reports the London Time®). At a cost of less than £7OO thirty-five acres of the most lovely scenery in the neighbourhood has been acquired for the public in perpetuity. The pioneers in the movement were the Runto.n Commons Society, in whose name and that of the Norfolk Archaeological Trust, of which he is vicepresident. Prince Frederick Duleep Singh. F.S.A., on Saturday afternoon formally handed the land over to Mr. John Bailey, as chairman of the National Trust. There was a large and representative gathering.
