SATURDAY’S GAMES. BRILLIANT 'WEATHER. Devotees of the willow in the Hawera district were greatly favoured, so far as the weather was concerned, on-Saturday for the pursuit- of their pastime. Tliete was a clear sky, practically no wind, and dry grounds were underfoot. The games resulted in wins for Excelsior and Midland. EXCELSIOR v. STRATFORD.

Of this lot Fulton made 73; a slump then, occurred, and eight wickets were down for 157 when the closure was applied. Crombie made 27, and Monaghan and Hendry 10 each. Stratford did not make much progress until their eighth wicket, as they had seven down for 39. Knight and Young then made 19 each, and the score reached 80. Excelsior thus won by 73 runs. Cole with five for 59 and Young two for 26 were in good form with the ball for Stratford, while McCarthy three for 21, Fulton three for 36, and Hendry two for 12 did the bowling for Excelsior.
