Johnston at the Auckland yachtsmen’s farewell to n “1 Jellieoe on Saturday evening states the New Zealand Hera,ld. Later in the proceedings the Governor-Gene-al recalled the remark, which lie said reminded him of the story of a .sh.p wreck. The captain asked his crew if anyone could uray. One man said he could. “All'right,” replied the captain, ‘‘serve out lifebelts to the remainder, and von can pray.” His Excellency trusted that Auckland yachtsmen would never meet the occasion when they would have to ask the crews if they could pray.
