Nero’s pompous bathing house, the largest of the Roman period yet discovered, has been excavated at Ngnano, near Naples. The structure is six storeys high and 1125 feet long. The three topmost galleries were reserved for individual steam baths. Given by Sir Jesse Boot, the largest inland open-air bath in Europe, holding 3$ million gallons of water, has been opened at Nottingham.
