ADDITIONAL ITEMS. ONGARUE DISASTER. ALLOWANCES FO'R. VICTIMS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Star). WELLINGTON, Nov 5 Among the items in the Supplementary Estimates is a Railway Department vote for £2OOO compassionate allowances, in addition to- £4488 already paid in respect to the Ongarue disaster; £BOOO, the cost of the railway commission; £BO,OOO, subsidy to the railway superannuation fund. An additional £33,545 is required by the Industries and Commerce Depart- • f° r the' Wembley Exhibition: £25,000 subsidy for Dunedin Exhibition. The Pensions Department has a vote of £IOO for the widow of the late Hon. J. Colvin, former member for Ruller, £127 for R>. T. Reid, the headmaster who was permanently disabled in the Waikino School tragedy. The Internal Affairs Department requires £7676 additional for special publicity work; £IOOO is voted towards cost of returning the All Blacks football team, via Canada; £250 towards the expenses of the New Zealand representatives at the Olympic Games; £IOO to the Royal Humane Society; £l5O additional to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. The Defence Department votes include £10,500 for the purchase of the Kohimaramara Aerodrome, Auckland. The Customs Department votes include £32.500 to the Main Highways fund, as the amount equivalent to tyre duty collected as part of the equipment of motor vehicles; £SOOO is appropriated for refund duty on machinery for dried milk manufacture imported prior to the Customs Amendment Act, 1921. The Lands Department has a vote for a £3OOO subsidy for the Tongariro National Piark on a £ for £ basis.. The new sv.stem of railway accounts is resnonsible for a vote of £20.000 by the Department of Agriculture for the carriage of lime to bona fide farmers and £450 railage for starving dairv stock in Canterbury and North Otago: £IOOO is appropriated for investigation into the methods of arresting deterioration in the North Island grass areas ami £250 to procure information from America regarding the beet sugar industry. The Education Department provides an (additional £SOO. to tlie Workers’ Educational Association for organising and an additional subsidy of £25.000 to the teachers’ superannuation fund. The public works votes include £IOOO as a compassionate allowance to, the children of the late Laurence Bilks, formerly chief electrical engineer. £250 COMPASSION'ATE ALLOWANCE. (By Telegraph.—Special to Star). WELLINGTON. Nov. 6. The Supplementary Estimates include £250 as compassionate allowance to P. N. Petty, who was injured during blasting operations at Kaupokonui ballast pit; £IOOO is appropriated for expenses of,the special committee to report on Crown leaseholds between Raglan and Whangamomona. and £3OO additional is voted to the Stratford Model Dairy Farm.
