CRICKET.

SATURDAY’S GAMES. Cricketers were favoured with fine weather for their games on Saturday. There had been heavy rain until early on Saturday morning, but the. water had got away well, and conditions were not altogether in favour of the bowlers. The games resulted in wins for Okaiawa, Midland and Excelsior. EXCELSIOR v. MANAIA. McCarthy won the toes and .put Manaia in. Runs came slowly from the outset, the pace and rise of; the ball on the new concrete wicket being too much for the batsmen. Manaia’*s total of 61 seemed to be almost too much for their opponents, who did not reach that number until the eighth wicket. McCarthy with eight wickets for 20 was in deadly form, and carried off the howling honours. The fielding ■on both sides was splendid, and the catch that Monaghan took from McMahon was one out of the box. Excelsior won on the first innings by 18 runs. Scores and analyses: MANAIA.
