NEW PLYMOUTH HIGH SCHOOL MEETING. New Plymouth Boys’ High School added another to the previous list of •successful athletic meetings on Saturday, when 385 athletes ranging from the lower preparatory to- the upper eixth competed in a programme as long as it- was interesting and varied. iNo. fewer than four . school records were broken, while two others were equalled. A bright, warm sun bad, quickly dried the school ground after the heavy rain of the previous day and the tuff Was iii good order for a sports meeting. J. D. Maekay. of Form VGA, last year’s school champion, i s again champion this year. Competing in six championship events, Maekay won foui, and was second in the other two. It was a particularly meritorious effort for hi in to gain his position, for when the senior steeplechase was run a few weeks ago, the champion was unable to compete owing to ill-health. He thus started in Saturday’s events with D. Crawford and F. C. Gilmour ahead of him by three and five championship points respectively. , Maekay broke his own record iii the long jump of 19 feet 9£ inches 'by It} inches,' and also equalled his own , record of 16 4-5 sec in the 120 yards hurdles. Gilmour gained second place in the championship table with three wins, two seconds and two thirds in seven starts. J. Buckeridge, of Form VB, annexed the junior championship with two wins, two seconds, and one third in five starts. The four records which were broken at, the meeting were : Long Jump (senior). —J. D.
