MANAIA.
(From Our Own. Correspondent.) No doubt- there will be a good attendance at the euchre party and dance in the Manaia Town Hall, tonight in aid of town queen. All preparations are complete and good pmes are offered for ladies and men s euchre. A good floor, supper and music will also be provided. .Great preparations are being made tor the monster tug-of-war in aid of the sports queen, which is to be held on November 12 and 14 in the Manaia Town Hall. Some of the best teams in Taranaki will null, and a great contest is expected.* Full particulars will appear later in the Hawera Star. The citizens of Manaia and district their hearty congratulations to Mr. A. J. Hansen, of Manaia, on bemg appointed president of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union. He was appointed at the conference held at Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, last week. The appointment is a recognition of Mr. Hansen’s ability. °
