LIMITING CHAMPIONSHIP ENTRIES.. PROPOSAL DEFEATED. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. _ WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. Ihe New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association discussed a proposal to limit entries for the championship singles to 32. to be selected by the management committee, the remainder of the. competitors to be placed in a special singles championship. There was strong opposition, and it was considered by some members that the number should he at least 64, hut in the end the proposal was defeated, and also an amendment to defer it for twelve months. An alternative suggestion was to increase the days of play from five to six.

TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. At the annual meeting of the association the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President Mr. C. B. Webster; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. G. Wallace and y • *L Dickie; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. E. G. Foden; auditor, Mr, b . E, Shawdelegate to the New Zealand Association, Mr. E. D. Salmond; management committee, Messrs J. O. Nicholson (Waverloy). N. Balharry (Elthaiu), F. J. Shearer (Park). E H. Young (Sportsdale), and J. B. \\ llson (New Plymouth) ; selection committee, Messrs. Wallace, Dickie and Webster. A match committee consisting of Messrs. B. Wilson S'hfearer and Foden was elected to arlange the draw for the forthcoming inter-club competitions. * The Hawera Club had asked during the year that the next Taianaki eh aim pionships be held there, and the New Plymouth Club had also sent in an application. Since that time, reported the secretary, the Hawera, Club had decided not to push -the matter further. The championships would therefore be held in New Plymouth, and the dates suggested by the New Zealand Association was from January 6 to 9, 1925. These dates were approved. it being pointed out that they would be especially suitable on account of following; the New Zealand championships at Auckland.
