The Cabinet sat far ninety minutes and decided to continue in office for a few days. They are meeting again on Tuesday. They appointed a committee to examine the question of the authenticity of the Zinovieff letter. .It is expected that investigations will be completed by Tuesday. It is believed the adjournment of Cabinet was due to the necessity of clearing up a number of outstanding important administrative matters, but the question of resignation is left in the hands of the Premier, and a resignation without further meeting of "Cabinet is possible. In view of the Parliamentary position, it is regarded as probable that Mr MacDonald will resign next week: FURTHER DETAILS. THE STOCK EXCHANGE. Received Nov. 1. 1.30 p.m. ' LONDON. Oct. 31. The Stock Exchange shows great buoyancy as the result of the election, which exceeded the highest anticipations. Advances on improved values prior ta Wednesday were gilt-edged half centum to one centum; Home railways, one centum to over two centum. On the upsetting of the nationalisation soheme and the prospect of- a revival in trade, industrial, notably textiles, iron, and steels, showed substantial advances. There is even a greater buoyancy on the..'provincial exchanges. Received Nov. 1, 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Qet. 31. A ' Conservative, MacQuistan, gained Argyll from the Liberal three-cornered contest by a majority 0f 5 3039. Two Conservatives, Craig and O’Neill, were re-elected for Antrim, defeating a Republican ,McCormick, bv a majority of 5800. ‘ - ' RUSSIAN PRESS OPINION. MOSCOW, Oct. 31, The Izvesti a "expresses the opinion that it.'would he ervoiieous to consider the result of the British elections as the vote of the British people against the Anglo-Soviet treaty, and declares that Britain’s economic needs, international influence and the union of Soviet republics will command the British bourgeoisie to make such an agreement.
